Summer Internship 2019 | Release Engineer (Santa Barbara, Seattle)

Department: Software

Location: Santa Barbara, Seattle

Req#: 4865

At Sonos, we're passionate about creating the finest sound experiences in the world. One of the keys to a great experience with a modern intelligent speaker system is software. Great software is as important at Sonos as our award winning hardware. Great software isn't an accident. It takes hard work, solid processes, and good tools. It takes many iterations of trying different ideas, getting feedback, and adjusting. This critical experimentation and iteration requires software pipelines that quickly carry our best ideas, captured in high-quality code, out to testers, partners, and customers. The Sonos Release Team is focused on this mission. On building and maintaining the delivery pipelines that keep our software, and our customer experiences, ahead of the curve.

As an intern on the Release Team, you'll work with talented engineers to create and maintain a world class Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipeline that runs for code check-in, through build, tests, delivery, and deployment. We're continuous building our mobile application, embedded player, and micro-service based software. Whenever code is checked in, we build, test, and archive. Each night, we execute full builds of our software. Each sprint we deliver multiple releases to alpha, beta, and production users. Your part in this can include projects ranging from working on our source control management systems (Perforce and Git), to our CI server (Jenkins), to our internal release administration tools, to our cloud based infrastructure (AWS). This experience in CI/CD will provide you with a great understanding and working knowledge of modern software development, release practices, and tools. This knowledge can be put to use wherever your career takes you from software developer, to test engineering and quality assurance, to release engineering, to DevOps.
