Sr. Mechanical Engineering Analyst

The Mechanical Engineering team at Sonos is developing designs that define the face, feel and sound of all Sonos products.  We are seeking individuals that have a crazy attention to detail, excited about clever engineering designs, curious about why things work and want to make insanely great products.  Have fun every day on this fast paced, creative team and help take Sonos to explore new places in this space.

What You’ll Do
  • Leadership of all mechanical simulation and analyst activities including development and management of analytical tools, environment and resources.

  • Impact product design decisions by providing reliable analysis and CAE simulation insights.

  • Accurately predict mechanical and thermal performance in architecture phase; maximize mechanical performance while balancing cross-functional interests.

  • Lead in the design and implementation of mechanical solutions; participate in team design reviews and technology investigations.

  • Define and guide Design of Experiments to characterize mechanical materials, components and systems; analyze test data and prepare reports.

  • Communicate status and results to cross-functional teams and management 

  • Travel occasionally to Asia for supplier meetings, investigations and factory builds.



Skills You’ll Need

    • Resource management experience
    • Basic understanding of and experience with CFD thermal analysis 
    • Familiarity with Drop Shock and Random Vibration experimental testing
    • Familiarity with Modal, Shock, Random Vibration and Static Structural FEA 
    • Able to organize design reviews and lead technical discussions.
    • Ability to prepare clear and concise written reports and presentations.
    • Works independently and as part of a team.
    • Direct experience with CAD / CAE analysis tools (ANSYS, LS Dyna, FlowEFD, NX, etc.)
    • Knowledge of plastic material behavior and failure characteristics
    • 10+ years work experience in product development in consumer electronics or electro-mechanical hardware design.
    • Minimum of MS degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
