Sr Manufacturing Development Engineer

Department: Product Operations

Location: Boston, Santa Barbara

Req#: 5821

Join the revolution that is delivering the best audio experience in the world as a member of the team responsible for product assembly and manufacturability of Sonos’ next generation speakers. Starting with early engagement during the creation phase of programs and continuing through to product realization, you will work with Product
Development teams based in the US as we develop new product concepts. Your focus during this period will be to use SW tools and other analyses to input design for excellence (design for assembly, manufacturability & serviceability) ideas into appearance models and sub-system architectures.

You will also identify & asses any new-to-Sonos (NUD) manufacturing methods required to manufacture these products. Progressing through the prototyping phase, you will work with other Ops Engineering teams to develop the manufacturing processes needed at second tier supplier and contract manufacturer partners based in China. Your charter during this period is to make equipment recommendations, ensure robust DFM solutions and advocate for methods and machinery to ensure critical-to-quality product features are provided. You will lead the development of NUD manufacturing processes from proof-of-concept through process qualification.

Finally, during the realization and launch phases, you will assist our global repair and refurbishment 3rd party partners to develop their dis-assembly & re-assembly processes in order to process RMA returns at the quality levels that Sonos expects. Ranging from supplier sub-assembly to CM final product assembly to 3P repair & refurbishment, these manufacturing solutions will support growing high volume demand with uncompromising accuracy, repeatability and efficiency.  You will care passionately about product quality and functionality, and if you’re a music lover that’s all the better!
