We are looking for a passionate and energetic Electrical Engineer to develop electronics circuits for our next generation audio products. A thorough understanding of digital design is essential, although you’ll also be engaged in electronic design for mixed signal and power circuitry. We provide a dynamic work space that supports our employees to do their best work; the position is available in either our Boston or Santa Barbara office.

What You’ll Do
In this important position, you will have broad engagement across the entire product development organization to deliver leading edge audio products for home and beyond. You will work cooperatively across multiple disciplines in a fast-paced environment, and bring a can-do attitude and a passion for delivering the absolute best products in their class!
 
Responsibilities:
  • Develop and design digital circuits for new audio products within a combined Analog and Digital EE team
  • Learn and bring in new digital technologies to Sonos product development team
  • Advance the simulation and test methodology of digital design
  • Ensure design compliance with all industry standards and regulatory requirements including EMC
  • Propose, set up, and execute validation testing plans with minimal guidance

Skills You’ll Need
Required:
  • Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering with 5+ years of related industry experience. 
  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering with +10 years direct experience also considered
  • Hands-on experience with complete ownership of digital electronics design in a high volume product environment
  • Previous experience successfully using trouble-shooting skills and system level technical knowledge.
  • Proven experience working across disciplines with mechanical engineering, radio engineering, and other product development engineering teams including ID, UX, packaging et al 
  • Track record of thorough documentation, meeting and exceeding previously existing standards.
  • Proven aptitude to take on new technical challenges and learn new technical skills on-the-fly and apply the knowledge to solve the issue at hand. 
  • Well-developed reporting and communication skills, including the ability to explain and summarize and complicated issues.
  • Knowledge and experience in digital audio (I2S, SPDIF), crystal clock, micro-controller, CPU, Ethernet, PCIe, SDIO, HDMI, MIPI, I2C, USB, DDR, FLASH etc
  • Ability to travel up to 20% annually (both nationally and internationally)

Preferred:
  • Experience in analog circuit design (op amp, comparator, IR, sensor, power)
  • Experience using audio test equipment (AP)
  • Experience using RF and/or EMC test equipment (network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, Agilent or IQFlex WiFi analyzers)
  • Knowledge of compliance and regulatory requirements and testing procedures (ESD, EMI, safety)
  • Energetic and thorough, curious about how and why, and passionate in your work 
  • Ability to use simulation/analysis tools and best engineering judgment to close issues
  • Strong sense of ownership, able to execute on designs as well as explain design decisions to others 
  • Excellent time management
  • Proven team leadership – or ready to develop it!
  • Ability to work with people with different culture background and/or in different locations
