Sr. DevOps/Automation Engineer (Seattle)

The Build, Tools and Automation (BTA) team seeks an experienced Software Engineer with a demonstrated track record of designing and developing automated build and test tools and services.  This role requires both software engineer skills and solid experience with infrastructure such as AWS, vSphere.  As a senior member of the BTA team you will be responsible for building the tooling and infrastructure that enables Software Developers and Test Engineers to efficiently build and test Sonos products in a repeatable, reliable fashion.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead the design and development of tools to scale Jenkins and associated build and test infrastructure.
  • Define and build reporting and metrics system that provide visibility and insights into the automated build and test ecosystem.
  • Collaborate with BTA team members on key technology initiatives.
  • Participate in daily stand-ups, weekly planning meeting
  • Consistently set high standards for best practices in Software Development activities, test design, code reviews
  • Participate and contribute to team architecture meetings and code reviews
  • Quarterly hack-week to work on salient hack projects.
Skills You’ll Need
  • BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related subject, or equivalent work experience. 
  • Demonstrated experience with automated testing frame works 
  • Proven working experience developing and scaling automated build/test systems such as Jenkins. 
  • Exposure or knowledge of Jenkins Job Builder or similar tools. 
  • Proven skills in objected oriented programming, Java and Python are pluses. 
  • Solid Linux system administration skills. 
  • Knowledge of infrastructure automation tools such as Puppet, Ansible, Chef. 
  • Uses SCM such as GIT, Mercurial or Perforce 

Preferred:  

  • 5+ years of experience providing resilient, scaled Jenkins services in production environments. 
  • Experience converting manual Jenkins configuration to Jenkins Job Builder or similar tool. 
  • Passion for writing great, simple, clean, efficient code 
  • Solid Python experience 
  • 5+ years of experience in software development with Scrum/Agile Methodology  
  • Experience running  build/test on virtual environment Amazon Web Services, VMWare vSphere or OpenStack. 
  • Experience using infrastructure/IT automation tools (Puppet, Chef, Ansible)  
  • Knowledge or experience with container technology (Docker, Rocket, etc.)
