Come join our new Seattle office and help us build the next generation platform for controlling the Sonos system as part of a smart, Internet-connected home.  You'll have a direct impact on the business, advancing a major component of our core strategy, and unlocking novel ways to control a Sonos system, such as voice and 3rd party apps. 
  
Apply your experience and engineering skills to design and build highly available, low-latency global web services that integrate with state-of-the-art voice assistants to unlock the power of the Sonos audio platform. What You’ll Do
  • You will work closely with others to define project requirements and scope, and plan for upcoming work.
  • You will work with your team in an agile development environment and collaborate with QA and UX.
  • You will participate in code reviews and discussions with other developers, lead software design and code walkthrough meetings.
  • You will explore and innovate on the Sonos products during hack week.
Skills You’ll Need
Must Haves:

  • Experience designing and building scalable and highly available microservices in a distributed system with a focus on high concurrency and low latency. 
  • Expertise in Java & Java web frameworks, multi-threaded programming
  • Experience working with a commercial cloud services platform, such as AWS (EC2, ELB, RDS, Elasticache, Route53)
  • NoSQL experience (Cassandra, DynamoDB, MongoDB, etc)
  • Experience building RESTful APIs
  • Familiarity with HTTP, TCP/IP, and other networking protocol stacks. 
  • Track record of shipping reliable, extensible and maintainable software under tight time constraints. 
  • BS or MS in Computer Science or related field.


Nice to have!

  • Experience with the IoT - combining embedded devices and cloud services.
  • Familiarity with web application security, SSL, OAuth. 
  • Experience with performance testing, measuring KPIs, benchmarking, load injection, OS and app tuning.
  • Experience with Ansible or similar deployment orchestration tools (Puppet, Chef, Salt)
  • Experience with websockets, SOAP/XML
  • Experience with big data and machine learning.
  • Experience building a large scale, multi-region/global cloud service in Node.js or a modern framework
