Site Reliability Engineer - Enterprise Security

Department: Platforms and Infrastructure

Location: Seattle

Req#: 4510

At Sonos, we believe in the experience and our standard is ultimate. That’s the vision that drives every product we design. Every choice we make. Everything we do. Including the innovative and dynamic ways we integrate cybersecurity into the company culture.Come join a small, highly-effective team of security experts providing engineering expertise and advanced security solutions that strategically support the continued growth of the Sonos brand around the world. The initial area of focus for this role is building and integrating the infrastructure needed to secure Sonos.
About You

You're not like everyone else.

You bring a unique perspective to the table. Transparency tops your list of values. Your smarts and creativity are off the charts, matched only by your humility. You want to collaborate with a team of diverse talent. You proactively contribute to a culture of respect and inclusion.

You enjoy a challenge.

Inquisitive and focused, you see every challenge as an opportunity. You're ambitious and unafraid to make mistakes because you learn from them and bounce back quickly. You don't stop until you get it right. "Impossible" isn't in your vocabulary. You're more interested in creating the future than waiting for it.

You love to listen.

You start every interaction from a place of listening and seeking to understand. You're culturally connected. You remember your first concert. You can readily recommend a binge-worthy show on Netflix, Hulu or HBO. You can't sit in traffic without a great audiobook, podcast or album. You can make a killer playlist. Your idea of a good weekend includes watching a movie or playing a video game.

What You’ll Do
  • Build systems from the ground up: Using your strong expertise in automation, development and integration with a modern programming language, automate and integrate the core security solutions into a highly effective cyber defense system.  You will bring together disparate data sets and correlate them to discern meaning from noise. You know that an appliance isn’t always the answer and that a well-designed Lambda function can do the same job.
  • Operational Excellence:  We don’t just build things, we build them to last.  Being data driven you will measure the success of the security solutions with metrics and dashboards, as well as the health of the tools we use and services we provide. We never stop improving the effectiveness of the overall security capabilities.
  • You speak Security: It’s more than just building clever tools, security is a collaborative mission where success is also measured by how well you can communicate the why, not just the how.  We truly believe the “common knowledge” that “users are your weakest link” is wrong, and we build partnerships and relationships to make our employees our biggest assets.  Working and communicating effectively and openly with people with diverse backgrounds, technical or not, is where some of our biggest gains can be found.  You embrace the task of distilling and describing security issues, and their solutions.
  • Having Fun: Given all the stuff above -- responsibility, getting things done in the midst of rapid change, solving hard problems -- can you have fun? Absolutely. The right security SRE engineer will greet the job with a committed smile, with faith in the team, and with a light heart.

Skills You’ll Need
•  Building and Automating: You’re intimately familiar with architecting and securing cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Azure). You have deployed and maintained orchestration frameworks like Ansible, Puppet or Chef and used them as the foundation for your work. You have experience building and orchestrating containerized services (Kubernetes, Docker). Your experience with scripting and programming languages like Ruby, Python, Node, C++ or Go helps you turn tools in to platforms.
•  Measuring, Monitoring and Scale: You ensure everything you build is operationally excellent. You build metrics and logging in to everything you do, and you know how to collect, correlate and report based on them in a centralized logging platform (ELK, Splunk).
