The Player Services Team is responsible for developing and maintaining an innovative set of APIs and firmware that enables Sonos and third party applications such as music services, home automation and voice service providers to unlock the power of Sonos modern audio platform. Join us and you will work in a collaborative environment across embedded, systems, and web technologies with a strong focus on enabling unique music and voice experiences that will delight our users.

What You’ll Do

  • Design, implement and enhance the software and APIs on Sonos players
  • Collaborate with software developers, testers and product managers across teams and groups to deliver polished user features with high quality and in a timely manner.
  • Work closely with other player teams to tweak and optimize the Sonos platform performance for the best audio experience for our users
  • Work closely with services teams to design and improve the communication protocols between players and the Sonos Cloud infrastructure, delivering new cloud features to the vast network of Sonos households worldwide.
  • Provide Sonos Customer and Developer Support technical assistance such as training and debugging for problems in the field. 
Skills You’ll Need

  • Professional experience and proficient in C/C++ software development.
  • Proficient in object-oriented software design.
  • Expertise with Linux systems and multi-threaded programming.
  • 3+ years of professional experience developing, optimizing and maintaining embedded systems.
  • Professional experience with web, cloud, and HTTP technologies (e.g. REST, WebSocket, JSON) preferred.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Javascript/Node.js, Python.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to write clean, fast, and portable code.
  • Professional experience using formal development processes and tools.
  • Track record of shipping reliable, extensible and maintainable software.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment.
  • 3+ years of professional experience in software development.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or related discipline.
