Senior Software Development Manager - Cloud Platform

Department: Software

Location: Boston

Req#: 4649

At Sonos, we're passionate about creating the ultimate listening experience for our customers.  Our partners share our passion and build compelling experiences that showcase their ingenuity alongside our own.  The lever that moves this world: our platform.

Come help us build the next generation platform for controlling the Sonos system as part of a smart, Internet-connected home.  You'll have a direct impact on the business, advancing a major component of our core strategy, and unlocking novel ways to control a Sonos system, such as voice and 3rd party apps.

As the Software Manager for Cloud Platform, you will lead the team responsible for the design, implementation and maintenance of the web services that form the backbone of the Sonos Software Platform. These services currently power the experiences for popular music streaming services, connected home ecosystems, and voice control. Our services must be performant, globally available, and support millions of connected devices.

We are a nimble team, looking for someone who loves to be creative and to collaborate with other smart people to come up with the best customer experience.

About You

You're not like everyone else.

You bring a unique perspective to the table. Transparency tops your list of values. Your smarts and creativity are off the charts, matched only by your humility. You want to collaborate with a team of diverse talent. You proactively contribute to a culture of respect and inclusion.

You enjoy a challenge.

Inquisitive and focused, you see every challenge as an opportunity. You're ambitious and unafraid to make mistakes because you learn from them and bounce back quickly. You don't stop until you get it right. "Impossible" isn't in your vocabulary. You're more interested in creating the future than waiting for it.

You love to listen.

You start every interaction from a place of listening and seeking to understand. You're culturally connected. You remember your first concert. You can readily recommend a binge-worthy show on Netflix, Hulu or HBO. You can't sit in traffic without a great audiobook, podcast or album. You can make a killer playlist. Your idea of a good weekend includes watching a movie or playing a video game.

  • Lead the team as a hands-on technical expert for the development of our cloud platform projects.
  • Inspire the team with a personal passion for detail and quality that is central to Sonos culture.
  • Manage all the stages of large engineering projects from concept to implementation and release.
  • Partner with leaders across the organization to develop processes and strategies for efficiently producing new features and products that delight our customers.
  • Expand the team by hiring, growing and inspiring top engineering talent to do the best work of their career.
Skills You’ll Need

  • 10+ years in software development, preferably web services
  • 2+ years in a leadership or management role
