Senior Software Development Manager

Department: Software

Location: Boston

Req#: 4649

At Sonos, we're passionate about creating the finest home sound system in the world for our customers.  Our partners share our passion and build compelling experiences that showcase their ingenuity alongside our own.  The lever that moves this world: our platform.

Come help us build the next generation platform for controlling the Sonos system as part of a smart, Internet-connected home.  You'll have a direct impact on the business, advancing a major component of our core strategy, and unlocking novel ways to control a Sonos system, such as voice and 3rd party apps.

As a Software Development Manager for Platform APIs, you will be leading a team of talented and passionate engineers creating the next generation Sonos API for interacting with the Sonos system both in the home and away from home. See  This role will require someone with previous experience shipping public APIs or significant software development experience. A strong understanding of modern Cloud engineering is also required. We believe that for you to build simple and easy to use APIs, you need to understand the developer community and be able to collaborate well with our developer advocates. If you are able to build some prototypes from your own APIs, that would be a big plus!

We are a nimble team, looking for someone who loves to be creative and to collaborate with other smart people to come up with the best customer experience.

About You

You're not like everyone else.

You bring a unique perspective to the table. Transparency tops your list of values. Your smarts and creativity are off the charts, matched only by your humility. You want to collaborate with a team of diverse talent. You proactively contribute to a culture of respect and inclusion.

You enjoy a challenge.

You don't stop until you get it right. "Impossible" isn't in your vocabulary. You're more interested in creating the future than waiting for it.

You love to listen.

You start every interaction from a place of listening and seeking to understand. You're culturally connected. You remember your first concert. You can readily recommend a binge-worthy show on Netflix, Hulu or HBO. You can't sit in traffic without a great audiobook, podcast or album. You can make a killer playlist. Your idea of a good weekend includes watching a movie or playing a video game.
