Senior Embedded Software Engineer

As a senior embedded engineer, you will be an integral part of this brand new team at Sonos. You will be responsible for the design, implementation and maintenance of the embedded software that supports the first version of this new offering. You’ll view shipping V1 as the starting line and will rapidly and continuously learn from our customers and iterate.

What You’ll Do
  • This individual will be an integral part of our new Sonos for Business Initiative.
  • Customize the Sonos experience for these new markets by working in areas from the top to bottom of the embedded stack - such as security, playback, configuration, etc.
  • Develop software that enhances the user experience informed by the user’s role and persona.
  • Develop software that enhances the ease of monitoring and maintaining mission critical Sonos systems.
  • Develop and deploy solutions that consistently provide insight into their health and performance in the field.
  • Work closely with partner teams to understand, build upon, and adapt existing tech to accomplish new high value scenarios.

Skills You’ll Need
C++ developer with object-oriented design skills.

Proven track record of shipping reliable, extensible and maintainable software.

Unrelenting customer focus.

Polyglot excited to bring their horsepower to bear across a variety of problem spaces and technologies.

Degree in Computer Science, related engineering discipline, or equivalent experience.

Experience with memory management, multi-threaded development and optimizations.

Understanding of API design and experience developing an API platform and/or SDK.

Experience with client and server application networking code.

Experience with TCP, UDP and other networking protocols.

Experience with modern cloud infrastructure, RESTful interfaces, and general web technologies (HTTP, TLS, mDNS, etc.).

Ability to effectively engage in written and verbal technical communication with our partners. 

Embedded/IoT application development a plus.
