We’re looking for someone with a strong background and skill-set in soldering and surface mount component-level rework as well as hands on experience with a variety of hardware related tools such as soldering and desoldering tools, hand tools, woodshop equipment, glue guns and more.

What You’ll Do
Provide hands-on technical support such as rework, setup, test, modification, debugging, and troubleshooting, to the hardware development working groups.  Help solve technical problems, including building and setting up test equipment, conducting experiments, collecting data, and presenting results to engineering teams.  Assist in ordering parts, maintaining equipment and general lab support, as well documentation including SOP’s, weekly reports, asset tracking, etc.
Skills You’ll Need
•5+ years’ experience in a hardware design and support environment.
•Ability to do hands on electrical engineering work e.g. rework, soldering (0201 and larger), test methodology, design, product debug, and prototyping.
•Ability to read electrical schematics and circuit board layout files (Allegro .brd file experience preferred).
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
•Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook as well as comfortable learning a variety of other computer software.
•Strong organizational skills, including inventory tracking, keeping hardware components and tools organized and maintaining an inventory of components for engineering design and debug.
•Strong knowledge of test equipment including some or all of the following: DMM’s, DSO’s (digital storage oscilloscopes), programmable power supplies, data loggers, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, and any equipment used in the development of electronic engineering product.
•Uncompromising team work ethic.
•Decisive action-oriented individual who learns quickly, works independently, and takes ownership of open issues.
•Ability to think on your feet and generate creative solutions to challenging problems.
•Ability to quickly switch tasks to accommodate changing priorities without losing focus on overall goal.

Preferred:

•7+ years as an Electronic or Engineering Lab Technician and/or Associates Degree in EE.
•IPC soldering certification.
•Knowledge and experience with schematic entry and layout tools is a plus.
•Strong knowledge of hardware development best practices in several of the following functional areas: digital, analog, radio, mechanical, acoustics, sustaining, hardware verification.
•Scripting languages for automated testing. Perl preferred, python and TCL/Expect, a strong plus.
