Retail Marketing Specialist

The US Retail Experience team is responsible for developing and executing go-to market plans across owned and partner retail channels in Sonos’ largest market.

The team operates across a broad range of functions to deliver brand and product communication, programs, and experiences that exceed shopper’s expectations in both physical and digital retail environments.    
Our work shows up in crucial touch points along the path to purchase, directly impacting brand perception and commercial outcomes in the Americas region.  

The Retail Marketing Specialist will have marketing ownership within the Audio Video Specialty (AVS) channel, partnering with sales leadership to develop and drive programs and strategies aimed at accelerating growth within the channel. The AVS channel plays a central role in helping Sonos reach prospective owners who value a highly-assisted/educational shopping journey. 

The role would involve working with several flagship AVS partners that represent the best in merchandising/customer experience at a regional level.

This role will also support the development and execution of channel wide marketing initiatives such as product launches and promotions.  This work involves partnering with the global marketing organization and wider regional team to recommend, develop, and execute physical and digital assets required to make the programs successful.  

You will be working in a fast paced environment on a category that requires constant adaptation.  You will own multiple initiatives that intersect various functional groups simultaneously while managing priorities.  
This job is appropriate for someone with 5+ years of sales and marketing experience.  At least 2 years of marketing experience is preferred.  

You will report directly to the Director of the Americas Retail Experience team.

What You’ll Do
  • Develop and drive annual channel marketing plans for the AVS channel consistent with our brand strategy, marketing calendar, and shopper needs.  
  • Manage the channel marketing budget for AVS partnering with finance and sales.  
  • Recommend merchandising experiences, execution plans, and budgets for AVS.
  • Support project execution and display maintenance between multiple stakeholders. 
  • Support sales leadership with account meetings and initiatives. 
  • Support sales operations in forecasting leveraging insight from marketing performance metrics, as well as category and competitive insight. 
  • Collaborate with Field Marketing to surface and integrate insights into plans.
  • Coordinate the development and execution of channel wide initiatives such as new product launches or promotional drive periods.  Includes working with global marketing to identify physical and digital asset needs across the region, and working with the local teams to ensure timely and accurate execute.  
  • Proactively solve day-to-day problems and exercise good judgment, including the determination of when to escalate issues and when to empower the team to make decisions.
Skills You’ll Need
Bachelor’s degree in marketing or related experience 

5 plus years in a sales or marketing position (minimum 2 years in marketing) with specific experience building marketing plans for both digital and physical environments.  

Additional skills required:  
  • Ability to interpret and implement a brand and company strategy in retail spaces  
  • Passion for understanding and addressing consumer needs 
  • Tenacity to manage tension between retailer’s objectives and Sonos objectives
  • Organization and process management skills, including attention to detail.  Ability to deliver complex programs with unique details and nuances to multiple stakeholders. 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.  Ability to get an idea through clearly and succinctly.  
  • Ability to unite stakeholders with different opinions.  
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to turn insight into action.
