Every day, SONOS turns ideas into beautiful product innovation.  We have disclosed well over 500 product ideas at Patent Offices around the world. Our patent portfolio includes over 250 patents covering fundamental aspects of the SONOS experience and it is growing at a pace of over 2 patents per week. 
 
A Patent Attorney / Agent at SONOS will join our cross-disciplinary IP and Innovation team in promoting innovation at SONOS and developing our highly strategic patent portfolio. A successful candidate will have experience in securing high-impact patents, a demonstrated ability to work effectively in a highly-collaborative team setting, and a passion for technology and music.

What You’ll Do
You will:
  • Provide broad-based support in the development, maintenance, enforcement and defense of SONOS’s patent portfolio
  • Prepare and review invention disclosures and advise on patentability issues
  • Prepare and prosecute own docket of U.S. and worldwide patent applications directed to important SONOS product innovations
  • Actively manage outside counsel in preparation and prosecution of patent applications
  • Work closely with SONOS’s IP & Innovation team members to develop and execute on patent portfolio strategy
  • Drive diligence regarding industry-wide product functionality
  • Interface with innovators across all SONOS groups regarding technical features, product details, and the patent process
Skills You’ll Need
You have:
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or equivalent strong academic credentials.
  • Admission to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office
  • Minimum 3+ years patent prosecution experience within a law firm
  • Strong knowledge of USPTO and PCT regulations and systems
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage a large prosecution docket
  • Strong analytical, research, writing, organizational, and management skills, detail-oriented and results-oriented
  • Exceptional interpersonal communication (both written and oral) skills
