Mechanical Engineering Project Manager
Location: Boston, Santa Barbara
Product development is a complex activity with numerous interdependencies and deliverables, and design goals that can fluctuate throughout the course of the program. The Mechanical Engineering Project Manager will drive the team through these complexities while clearing obstacles and facilitating close collaboration with our internal resources and our external partners. You will be the key interface for the mechanical team as well as a key partner for the ME Technical Lead interacting with people at all levels throughout the company and participating in cross-functional project meetings.

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to, managing issues lists, schedules, tracking tooling programs, coordinating designs of experiments, coordinating the fabrication of prototypes, developing mechanical bills of material, generating and tracking JIRA Bugs and facilitation of design reviews.
With your technical background, you will participate in the development and implementation of mechanical engineering processes and tools to improve efficiency, precision and passion. You will be working with a team of 6 to 8 SONOS Mechanical Engineers and your closest partner in this endeavor will be the Mechanical Engineering Technical Lead (METL). The METL is responsible for the design of the parts and sub-assemblies and the bulk of the internal communication within the ME team while the MEPM is responsible for schedules, programmatic interdependencies, order of operations and the bulk of the external communications to component suppliers and to the SONOS PCL team/other SONOS cross functional teams.
Project facilitator (schedule, cost, resources, issues, risks, decisions, process, communication)
Coordination, communication and monitoring of mechanical engineering activities
Development and execution of ME process and tools
Leadership through influence
7+ years experience in mechanical engineering developmen
Relentless sense of ownership of development schedules, issues, risks, and team coordination
Driven by delivering superior quality and the best possible user experience
Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering development with best practices in plastics, extrusions, stampings, elastomers, thermal, EMI/RFI, cabling, mechanical assemblies and tooling
Know how to turn stressful situations into positive experiences
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple activities with constant changes
Willing to travel within the US and Asia (sometimes with little notice)
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Experience with Project Scheduling (MS Project or equiv.), BOM and Material Control Systems, Bug Tracking Databases. Rudimentary CAD skills.
Experience with the delivery of high volume consumer electronics
Experience with Asian contract manufacturers
Fluency in Mandarin is a plus
