The Internal Communications Specialist is an all-around creative with a knack for the written word and a great story. They’ll be responsible for writing/creating, editing, and managing the release of internal communications that support the People (HR) Team and the broader organization.

They’ll have their hands in everything from written content to creative programs such as internal “billboards” and other graphic design. They’ll be responsible for helping to craft key Sonos narratives, and will need to ensure all communications are accurate, clear, and appropriate for the audience and context. While the focus of this role will be writing to start, this individual also should have some experience and desire to grow in the visual design and video editing spaces.

Given that this role is internally focused, the Specialist should - and is encouraged - to embrace their creative license to bring a fresh perspective to all things Internal Communications; they should always be thinking about ways to elevate employee’s experiences and help make Sonos a place where people can do their best work.

What You’ll Do
“The written essentials” - ~60% of your time

These written communications are considered must reads, and are high visibility moments within the organization. These communications must be written in the Sonos voice (our brand standards) and in an engaging way that informs and inspires the organization. You will work with peers and cross functional stakeholders across the business to make sure these deliverables appropriately address the needs of our employees and the business.

Focus areas: 
  • Key news and announcements (Internal Product Announcements; Leadership updates, office openings, etc.)
  • Resources and reference documents (internal training documents, FAQs, etc.) 
  • Speaker scripts/talking points for live events and meetings
  • Intranet content management and maintenance

Graphic and Video Design – ~40% of your time 

You will also help teams tell their stories in the most compelling ways possible, which includes graphic design and video. As a global organization, we are increasingly relying on these platforms to help tell stories in consistent and compelling ways. 

Focus areas: 
  • Slides and infographics (Powerpoint skill is a must; Adobe suite is a very nice to have)
  • Occasional photography needs (of our offices, people, events)
  • Production (manage the design process for swag)
  • Video (basic video editing experience is a nice to have, vlogging or other equivalent experience is preferred)

Skills You’ll Need
  • Experience explaining complicated concepts in simple ways, especially across global cross-functional audiences.
  • Experience building structure into how you’ll work through things like documentation, scheduling, taking great notes, etc. 
  • Experience in planning and orchestrating collaborative work cross teams, juggling multiple requests, and re-prioritizing work according to emerging company priorities in real-time.
  • A desire to try new things and willingness to embrace learning on the job. 
  • An ability/desire to identify needs on your own and suggests solutions.
  • You relate to and operate within our Sonos behaviors of respect, transparency, collaboration, and ownership.
