Sonos is looking for a lab technician to work side-by-side with world class engineers in developing some of the highest quality, best sounding, and most advanced audio products on the market. Sonos leads the industry in multi-room wireless streaming audio products and we have many great products in the pipeline! In this role, you will provide hands-on technical support, solve technical problems, run a variety of tests, and help maintain the lab equipment and supplies, all the while continuing to advance your knowledge and skills in the lab.

What You’ll Do
  • Assist engineers and other customers by performing various kinds of electrical and mechanical work.
  • Assist engineers and other internal customers by performing various test plans and procedures to verify electrical and mechanical product integrity and durability.
  • Oversee and maintain lab equipment, tools, and supplies.
  • Continue to improve skills and knowledge by doing on the job training with senior team members, or occasionally by taking online or outside training courses.
Skills You’ll Need
Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years’ experience in hardware design, support, or production environment, or at least a 2 year degree in a relevant field.
  • Ability to do hands on electrical engineering work (e.g. rework, soldering (0201 and larger), assembly, and disassembly).
  • Basic knowledge of electrical concepts such as voltage, current, resistance, power, etc. and basic troubleshooting and debugging skills.
  • Basic familiarity with test equipment such as multimeters (DMM’s), oscilloscopes, power supplies, etc.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and circuit board layout files.

Preferred Skills

  • 5+ years as an Electronic or Engineering Lab Technician and Associate Degree in EE.
  • IPC soldering certification (current or expired).
  • Ability to read and interpret PCBA board (.brd) files.
  • Solid understanding of electrical circuits.
  • Ability to read a typical Electrical Engineering test plan and execute it (e.g. signal integrity testing) and independently evaluate pass/fail criteria.
  • Familiarity with Linux, and scripting languages for automated testing, such as Perl and Python.
