Hacker Software Engineer, Front End
Boston, Santa Barbara
Become the inventor you dreamed of and join the Sonos Experience Lab as an Innovation Hacker, Software Engineer.
Our band is large. And while there’s plenty of room for all kinds of personalities and skill sets to succeed, there are certain qualities that will help you thrive here.
Like a never-accept-less work ethic. An exceptionally low ego-to-talent ratio (none of the first, tons of the latter). A relentless craving to push past your limits and try new things. The smarts and the humble confidence to take on big challenges, make mistakes fast and early, embrace tough feedback, then recover quickly with fresh, startlingly perfect solutions. A fearless willingness to defend great work. And a tendency to totally geek out on music.
If this sounds like you, read on and let’s connect soon.
The Sonos Experience Lab is a tight-knit group made up of User-Experience Designers, Software Hackers and Hardware Hackers that will ideate, define, design, and prototype future experiences that will be become product. Sonos has pioneered whole-home audio, creating best-in-class speakers and software that lets people listen to multiple sources of music throughout their entire home. This new team will answer deep questions about the future of how people will experience music, home theatre and sound.
As a Software Engineer you’ll work with the Experience Lab team as well as other Sonos teams to: define the experience to prototype, create the experiences, test them to understand how people react, and share those experiences with the broader Sonos organization.
A successful candidate will have a growth-mindset, and desire to explore concepts to figure out the right answers. We look for Engineers who work well in a team setting – helping other team members and exhibiting leadership qualities as you advocate for your ideas, create vision, and make decisions when there is uncertainty. Hacking away under tight deadlines, iterating very quickly, and above all be creative in everything you make, will excite you.
Over time you’ll develop artifacts and processes and practices in order to accelerate our ability to more effectively prototype with higher fidelity, faster. You’ll gain a deep understanding of the ecosystem of Sonos partners and their technology, hardware and software technologies used by Sonos and by other companies, and develop a deeper understanding of the Sonos customers.
We will reach out if there is a fit.
In 2002, we set out to reinvent home audio for the digital age. Our mission–to fill every home with amazing sounding music. Yes, it was an ambitious goal. Challenging, too. And that hasn’t changed.
Since those early days, we’ve remained tirelessly focused on finding innovative ways to make listening out loud, with friends and loved ones, the truly transformative experience it should be. We’ve seen our vision capture the imaginations of music lovers in more than 60 countries, as we’ve continued to introduce products, software, and technologies that help people share the songs they love, discover new music they never knew existed, and experience richer, more musical lives.
At Sonos, we are building a team with extraordinary talent to help us fill every home with music. We are committed to equal employment opportunity regardless of race, color, ancestry, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital status, disability, gender identity or Veteran status.
