The mission of the Sonos Data teams is to collect and leverage data in ways that help Sonos build better products and experiences for our customers, increase sales and accurately report financial data. The Data Platforms team is tasked with implementing the infrastructure to effectively collect, process and serve up the data to support that mission.

Now, more than ever, Sonos has new and unique requirements for data, expecting it to be available in a reliable, cost effective way, supporting new business areas, expanding product portfolio and growing customer base. These demand a new approach to the data ingestion platform, selecting and optimizing the technologies used as well as providing the support functional teams across the entire expect.

What You’ll Do

    • Shape and build the vision for the data platform and overall architecture to effectively serve up transactional and unstructured data.
    • Collaborate with existing architects to ensure a robust and scalable data platform. 
    • Drive processes for managing data from raw, unstructured to cleansed, shaped and governed.
    • Working with shareholders and understanding requirements from teams across the company.
    • Manage a cross functional data platform teams.
    • Can create an environment for managers to collaborate effectively across verticals.
    Skills You’ll Need
    • 10+ years experience managing cross-functional engineering teams.

    • Proven experience building scalable data platforms.

    • Experience leading data warehouse engineers, data engineers, data testing, data visualization and database operations teams.

    • Proven experience managing high performance teams from Jr developers to Sr Managers. 

    • Can demonstrate high levels of emotional intelligence. 

    • Computer Science or tenure in related field. 


    • Experience with both IoT data as well as Data Warehouses.

    • Experience architecting data platforms.

    • Experience with Big Data technologies (Spark, Kinesis, NiFi, Kafka, Hive, Hadoop)

    • Experience with the AWS platform (EC2, S3, RDS, DynamoDB, Lambda) 

    • Experience with Snowflake is nice to have.

    • Experience with MS SQL Server and SSIS ETL tools.
