As a leader on the Development team, you will help conceive, build, and deliver a new category of software products that help our customers have unique music and content experiences. You’ll consider growth scenarios and frame new opportunities. You’ll lead a team of engineers to drive product delivery from conception to execution. Transparency and collaboration are embedded in the Sonos work culture, and our next great Development leader needs to have a passion for partnering with product management teams and creative designers to build experiences that delight people in their elegance and create joy in bringing great sound experiences to people’s lives.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead a team of high performing engineers working on high impact projects and releases.
  • Organize, grow, and evolve top talent to meet a rapidly increasing demand for more software products, delivered in parallel. Hire, mentor, and retain top engineering talent.
  • Work with your partners across the organization to strike a delicate balance between the right long-term product strategy, project deliverables, and third-party demands.
  • Manage all the stages of large engineering projects from concept to design through implementation and release.  This includes staffing allocation, project management and documentation.
  • Mentor team members in software development skills and leadership responsibilities. Help guide their professional development and grow their careers.
Skills You’ll Need
  • 10+ years experience in software development, with at least 5 years experience managing engineers of all levels and leading large software projects. 
  • Strong technical background in software design, with a track record of shipping publicly available products or services. 
  • Knowledge of Agile development methodologies, source control management, and project management tools, such as Jira.
  • Background in mobile and cloud development.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with creative and business teams to create elegant technical solutions and compelling experiences across client, service and hardware.
  • Effective leadership with distributed teams.
