Director, Product Management - Cloud Platform

Sonos is an industry leader in the smart speaker category and has been working to fill every home with music over the last 15+ years. Our speakers look and sound great, but the real magic is in the software, where our thought leadership and inventions have defined the way the rest of the technology industry now perceives solutions in this domain. Powering the core Sonos Product and our Partner experiences is the Sonos Sound Platform which comprises APIs in the Cloud and on LAN.   

As Director, Product Management for Cloud Platform, you will provide the vision and strategy for one of the company’s most important assets and create new opportunities for our vibrant ecosystem of internal and external partners. You will lead a high performing team of product managers and developer advocates, who will make meaningful contributions to the Cloud Platform charter and broader Sonos mission.  

The successful candidate will have a broad, diverse portfolio of products for consumers and businesses that reach customers, globally. They will have experience bringing new products to market as well as scaling and optimizing more mature products. They will easily traverse the realms of business, technology and design and be able to rapidly simplify complex topics and communicate effectively at all organizational levels. They will have deep experience leading and developing high performing teams.

What You’ll Do
  • Create a team culture of trust, respect and fun 
  • Define vision and strategy for the Sonos Cloud Platform and Developer Advocate program 
  • Define goals and metrics for your team  
  • Define the Product Roadmap aligned to vision, strategy and goals 
  • Provide opportunities to hear from customers, partners & internal stakeholders 
  • Index on learning velocity and how your team can “build, measure, learn” 
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to manage dependencies, risk and schedules across software and hardware 
Skills You’ll Need
  • This role requires strong management and leadership skills, as well as the ability to jump into technical challenges, and collaborate with a global team of internal and external partners.   As a successful candidate, you are passionate about developing people and solving hard problems. You can confidently talk about code with developers, and you can explain complex technology in simple terms. 
  • 10+ years experience in technology and business 
  • 5+ years experience in management, leading high performing teams 
  • 5+ years experience working with developer platforms & ecosystems  
  • Ability to make hard decisions using a blend of quantitative and qualitative inputs  
  • Ability to define vision and strategy, in addition to solid results-driven execution 
  • World-class communication skills and ability to influence at all levels of the organization 
  • Ability to execute multiple, complex projects in parallel 
  • Strong technical background with an aptitude to learn new technologies 
  • Ability to work closely with strategic partners through technical integrations 
  • Collaborative spirit and eager to work in a fast-paced environment 
  • Masters or Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or experience in technical roles
