DevOps Engineering Manager - Service Operations (Seattle)

We are embarking on v2.0 of our continuous deployment pipeline – you can help us organize the future, gold-standard with a team of passionate engineers and developers, all in service of delivering the best quality listening experience to our customers.

As a DevOps Engineering Manager in Product Development, you’ll oversee a DevOps team working on the future of our IaaS tooling and CD pipeline. You will also contribute by assessing the needs of the development/SRE teams, make continuous improvements to processes and lowering the time spent during deployments, uptime of the CD infrastructure and fostering a DevOps culture of operational excellence. 

Above all, you’ll collaborate with the Development, QA and Data leads to provide a constant feedback loop to ensure we’re addressing the most important company priorities in Service Operations.

What You’ll Do
What you’ll do:
  • Ensure the team is focused on the right priorities with the right requirements.
  • Mentor team members in systems development skills and leadership responsibilities. Assist in guiding their professional development and career growth.
  • Collaborate with Dev, QA and Project leaders to ensure the right resource allocation to new projects.
  • Provide a planned and delivery-date accurate approach to large scale CI/CD process improvements.
  • Create a constant feedback loop with Developer, SRE, Ops and IT Leads to ensure communication and continue driving high-priority projects to completion.
  • Focus on building systems and processes with fast MTTR.
  • Evangelize DevOps and new processes throughout the Sonos’ organization.
Skills You’ll Need
Skills You’ll Need:
  • 5+ years hands-on technical management experience
  • Previous individual or team responsibility for the operation and maintenance of a Continuous Deployment pipeline
  • Experience building automation/configuration management infrastructure using Salt or Ansible (preferred)
  • Strong background using cloud services via scripted API calls (AWS preferred)
  • Hands-on experience in Linux administration and configuration management.
  • Knowledge of best practices and operations in an always-up, always-available service.

Highly Desired:
  • Strong background in Java and scripting languages like Python, Perl, and/or Ruby.
  • Experience leveraging Containers and Orchestration Technology.
